The Client
This was a Kennovations in-house project which aimed to upgrade an existing tool to simplify and accelerate production within the design studio. Design proposals and solutions circulated around a wide range of designers, end-users and Kennards Hire Centre specialists.
The Product
The redesign of the Easy Hammer was intended to reduce assembly time, the number of components, increase reliability of performance and incidentally the potentially negative effects resulting from Jack Hammer vibration. A number of solutions were reached to render it an outstanding product in terms of its originality and efficiency, those included the installation of spring assisted adjustable pivot angle, height adjustments and a shock absorbing clamp design.
The Process
The primary obstacle in the redesign process was eliminating the necessity of a gas strut without increasing the existing cost or efficiency. After consultation with end users the Kennovations team devised a mechanical pivot mechanism to which a base plate was added to increase accessibility.
The Result
The product recently underwent a large-scale overhaul of integral features and will constitute a 3rd generation series, 200 of which are being produced Australia wide.
